mid-winter break

WE OFFER YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PHOTOGRAPHY CLASSES IN BOTH DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY AND TRADITIONAL BLACK AND WHITE DARKROOM PHOTOGRAPHY.

Mid-Winter Break 2019: February 18 - 22

Classes will be 10am - 3pm, see days below.

Workshops are offered on a sliding scale with scholarships available.

  • Street Photography (digital) 2/18, 2/21, 2/22 only (M, TH, F)

Explore your community, with a camera in hand, learning different techniques on how to capture the world around you with a camera. Visit Seattle neighborhoods, taking photos of the bustling streets, people and buildings.

  • Creative Black & White Darkroom 2/18, 2/19, 2/20 only (M, T, W)

Dive deep into black & white darkroom photography, learning the history, chemistry and magic of making your prints come alive.

  • Storytelling through Photography (digital) 2/18 - 2/22 (M-F)

Artists have been using photography as a way to tell stories since its inception.  This class explores that history as well as how we can use modern digital photography and imaging as a storytelling medium.  Over the course we will be looking at how light, color, and composition can affect moods, how to create an effective series of photos, and learning to use our own narrative voice.

Classes are open to youth ages 13 - 19 years old. They must fill out an application (register above), but do not need to complete an interview.

We provide all necessary materials and supplies, including a quality camera for each student to check out for the entire quarter. Our custom-designed photography facility is inviting, well-equipped, and well-maintained. Our professional teaching artists are all paid professionals in the field.
