My name is Oscar Thornburg. I'm 15 and I'm a skater/photographer. I took this photography course because I enjoyed skating and wanted to branch out to photography since I had been taking a photography class in school and thought it would be good practice. Ive learned alot about photography in this class. At the beginning I had no idea what iso and aperture were and this class has taught me about that and how to make your image clean even if the subject is moving. I had a great time in this class and it's definitely made me want to keep taking pictures and definitely strengthened my bond with skating.
My photo is me in front of a window. I think the biggest parts of my picture are the bars on the window and me. I think those are the biggest parts because the bars give the window feeling. if it was just the window i feel like it might be kinda boring. I took the picture at this abandoned liquor store on the corner of Rainier Ave and south hill street.
What i'm trying to communicate through this photo is that i enjoy putting together outfits i tried to portray this using the window as a mirror. I was also trying to show that i enjoy vintage pictures i put the tint on to try to show that. I think i was drawn to that specific spot because it has a lot of feeling and depth because of it being on the side of a busy street but still being a chill photo. The subject means a lot to me because its me and i think that self love is pretty important to be happy and be happy with yourself. This picture says a lot about my photographic style because its has a vintage feel and just a calm vibe to it.
