We believe in the power of photography! Youth in Focus is committed to making sure you have a place to be creative, heard, foster community, and connect with your peers. This is a great place to start your photography journey, or for returning students, a great place to hone in your skills! Check out our new classes below and sign up!
All Youth in Focus programs are free, and we provide free bus passes if needed. All supplies and equipment are provided. We are committed to equitable arts access for ALL youth.

Intermediate Darkroom w/ Chloe
Building on the skills from Beginning Darkroom, this class encourages students to work on an artistic theme throughout the course, culminating in two final prints that work as a series. Youth will use metal-bodied mechanical cameras to really hone their more advanced technical skills. 120 film and medium-format cameras can be incorporated as well.
Concert Photography w/ Anthony
In this concert photography class, you will capture live music events and learn general etiquette around photographing live music. You will learn to navigate low light, adjust camera settings in manual mode, and capture the energy of performers. Class includes field trips to KEXP and a Vera Project Concert event!
Beginning Darkroom w/ bryn
Learn how to photograph, develop, and print black-and-white film with bryn! Become versed in using a film camera, a light meter, and various composition techniques. Dig into hands-on techniques for making photograms, small and medium-sized prints, and adjusting contrast and brightness. We will learn the rules of the darkroom and then break them!
Sports Photography (Digital) w/ Ehsaan
Learn how to take dynamic and storytelling-driven sports photos with Ehsaan! This class goes beyond basic action shots, teaching you how to use light, composition, perspective, and editing to turn your photos into a sports-themed portfolio. Whether you’re shooting on the sidelines or in the backyard, you’ll discover techniques for freezing motion, capturing emotion, and creating compelling images that stand out. Field trips to local sporting events and bts with high school and professional local Seattle sports teams.
