Oftentimes I think of my childhood and what things used to be like back then, all bright, beautiful and new. And now, I see all the changes. Dandelions don’t grow as often, the grass isn’t quite as green, the heat is hotter every year. But when I took this photo, I felt like I was taken back to those times. When the weather didn’t change drastically, and the bright and warm summer nights were still warm summer nights, things were bright and beautiful, even at night. To me this photo is nostalgia.
The drag and pop of colors in this photo are really what stood out to me to choose it as my favorite, and what makes it extra special to me is that it was taken on my balcony in my home where I got to see these changes.
One thing I’ve always been captivated by is the beauty of the forest. But, (surprisingly), this was taken at the zoo! I love it there specifically for how woodsy it is. This photo puts you in a whole different world. You’re immersed and surrounded by trees, leaves, moss, and that wet forest smell. Although there is a sense of wonder and nostalgia in the lighter parts, there’s also some disturbance and eeriness in the center in the photo. What is beyond the darkness?
