I’m Kaya M., 16 years old, male. I was born in Detroit, but I've lived in Seattle almost all my life.
Photography is something I have always deeply been interested in, it’s just that I’ve never been presented with the opportunities to fully immerse myself and gain actual skills, until taking this class. I have always loved taking pictures and videos with anything I could get my hands on, small point and shoot cameras especially, have fascinated me since I was a kid. Photography is an art-form to me, it’s like painting a blank wall with a beautiful mural, making nothing into something.
I intended to express my creativity, and to show my calm personality through my self-portrait. Music is something that has a special place in my heart, I take my headphones everywhere I go, hence the attention towards my headphones. This photo shows only a handful of the people I have met, and the friends I have made through skateboarding. This photo is close to my heart because these are the friends I have had the most memorable experiences with.
This is my friend Clayton doing a "front 5.0 grind" in the "egg bowl" at my local skate park, Delridge. This is my friend, Odin doing a "rock-and-roll" on the tombstone at delridge. These are my closest friends that I have been skating at Delridge with for over 4 years, Clayton and Odin are like the dynamic duo of Delridge, so these photos (taken on opposite sides of the park) are like a battle at Delridge, Clayton Vs. Odin.
