Explore your environment through street photography. Develop your own unique style with inspiration from photographic artists who have pushed the medium of street photography. This class will include many field trips to different locations in Seattle, such as Waterfront/Pier and Chinatown-International District.

Explore new ways to see and interact with your environment - from the smallest flower to the big, expansive sky. Take cool photos, then change them up with editing software to highlight your unique style and point of view. This camp includes lots of walking field trips so you can get up close and personal with nature!

Learn how to photograph, develop, and print black and white film with Chloe. Become versed in using a film camera, a light meter, and various composition techniques. Dig into hands-on techniques for making photograms, small and large prints, and adjusting contrast and brightness. We will be using the rules of the darkroom and then breaking them!

Spend the week exploring various parks and greenspaces around Seattle, all while getting technical experience with your DSLR camera. You’ll have the opportunity to edit your images using Adobe Creative Suite applications and build your post-production knowledge. Share your photos in a group showcase with the friends you’ve made at camp.

Are you interested in both photography and skateboarding? Learn the basics of digital photography AND explore photographing movement and skateboarding in action. In partnership with CHILL, we’ll be taking daily field trips to local skateparks where you’ll also learn to Skateboard! All photography and skateboarding equipment will be provided.

Explore the world of fashion through the lens of photography. From fashion show style to magazine editorial, street photography, and concept photoshoots- this class will bring our students an exciting and fresh perspective every day. We will explore creativity, mood boards, design, lighting, posing, working with subjects, and modeling! This class will include field trips and a fashion show.

Ever wanted to make a music video for a real band or artist? In this camp you’ll have the opportunity to craft a music video for a local music artist from concept, to filming, to editing, and premiering! Learn how to use digital cameras to tell a compelling story through cinematic language. This camp will offer students the opportunity to assemble a creative team, utilize creative vision, practical skills, and completion of a film project.

Expand your darkroom creative practice by incorporating alternative forms of photography and darkroom printing! We’ll revisit some of the basics of working with film, then move into experimenting with alternative processes and additional media. At the end of the week share your practices and artwork with the community here at YIF and invite family and friends for the last half hour of programming to share your creations.
